Commander

The retired superhero Sir Bryan Bardic is better known as the Commander.

Commander has a Cybernetic left leg (not shown), Left hand and right eye as well as several internal replacement organs. He uses a cane as his normal leg has difficulty coordinating with his mechanical limb when walking and he’s not floating out of the sky. Commanders’ powers are mystical in origin creating a mystical field around him that gave him the power of invulnerability, strength and flight.

Commander was injured during the Terminus invasion of London when a new meta-human’s powers was activated and quickly got out of hand. Commander was forced to power-stunt his invulnerability force field to contain both himself and the youth with his out of control plasma powers. He stopped the youth’s powers from accidentally killing hundreds of people when their powers went nova and consumed the boy, leaving only dust. However before Commanders’ force field could shrink back around him, the blast consumed half of his body. Damaged as much by his failure to save the boy as he was by his own life-threatening injuries, Commander was immediately sent to Reading Meta-Medical Facility where he spent a year in stasis being healed and being fitted for cybernetic replacements for his lost limbs and organs. Although he tried to return a hero, he could not forgive himself his failure and subsequently retired from active service.

Commanders’ mentoring experiences with his first protege Ensign (who went on to become a villain), and his current training of Lance and Cadet as possible replacements for himself, showed him the urgent need for a specialist school environment for meta-human’s and other powered individuals so when he was approached by Duncan Summers (Raven) following his encounter with Projekt Nächst Jahrgangen, he agreed to support Summers in setting up of a specialist school to train young people to properly control their powers. He was happy to become both a financial supporter and member of the Board of Governors for the proposed Claremont Academy Facility.
